The great mistake of modern civilization is to encroach upon other’s property as though it were one’s own, and to thereby create an unnecessary disturbance of the Laws of Nature. These laws are very strong. No living entity can violate them.
As a sleeping person acts according to the body manifested in his and accepts it to be himself, so one identifies with his present body, which he acquired because of his past religious or irreligious actions, and is unable to know his past or future lives.
Because people have forgotten Krsna, the reservoir of pleasure, they’re trying to find pleasure in things other than Krsna. Therefore they are becoming frustrated. They do not know that unless they come to Krsna consciousness, they will find no real pleasure.
Super consciousness cannot be imitated by the individual soul, who has limited awareness: I can understand what is going on within my limited body, but I cannot feel what is going on in another’s body.
Although I have come to this human form My Lord I have passed my life uselessly. I did not care to serve Radha and Krishna Yet I have swallowed poison carelessly.
Human life is meant for cultivating God consciousness. But in the modern so-called advanced civilization, instead of cultivating God consciousness people are cultivating nudity. Isn’t it so? So nature will punish them.
The aim of human life is to achieve self-realization and reestablish our lost relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. That relationship is the missing point in today’s society.
The Krsna consciousness movement is gradually spreading all over the world, but it is a little difficult to understand the purport of this movement because it is completely on the spiritual platform. Generally, people do not understand what the spiritual platform is.
Rascals cannot understand the difference between bhakti [devotional service] and karma [material activity]. Bhakti looks like karma, but it’s not karma. In bhakti we also work, but for Krsna’s sake. That is the difference.
The Supreme Godhead is one without a second, is an eternal, joyful personality with a full sense of His own identity. That is a concise description of the Supreme Lord, and no one is equal to or greater than Him.
Srimad-Bhagavatam is as brilliant as the sun and has arisen just after the departure of Krsna to His own abode, accompanied by religion, knowledge, etc. Persons who have lost their vision because of the dense darkness of ignorance in the Age of Kali will get light from this Purana.
The Christians say, “We can commit all kinds of sin, but Christ will take our sins on himself. He has taken a contract.” Do they not say something like that?
People do not know that they are spoiling their life. They are thinking, “I’ve got a very nice apartment, a very nice car, a very nice wife, a very nice income, a very nice social position.” All these material attractions make us forget the purpose of our life—to worship Krsna.
Krsna loved the gopis. The gopis were young girls, and Krsna was a young boy, and He loved them. But here the so-called love between a young boy and girl is lust. Therefore it is condemned. But in the love between Krsna and the gopis there is not a trace of lust.
Lord Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Great Apostle of love of God and the Father of the Sankirtan Movement, advented Himself in the City of Nabadwipa in Bengal, India. This was in February, 1486, by Christian reckoning.
There are many international societies, such as the United Nations. So the idea of an international society is very nice, but we must try to understand what the central idea of an international society should be.
Your home is the spiritual world. But by karma you are put into this material world. Then you must struggle, like a fish out of water. And if the fish is again put into the water, his life is in its natural condition.
The impure consciousness of nationalism has kept all the big heads of the world’s nations ever active for an amicable adjustment of everyone’s national interest. They have now made a United Nations Security Council, and are trying in vain to find the right adjustment.
The men who are awarding the Nobel Prize are also rascals. It is a society of fools and rascals. Therefore my Guru Maharaja [spiritual master] used to say, “This is a society of the cheaters and the cheated.”
