When Lord Krishna, the Supreme Godhead, appeared on earth, He sometimes played like a small child to enjoy pastimes with His devotees. Here He is pictured accepting food from His pure devotee Yasoda. who acts in the role of His mother. Although 5.000 years have passed since then. even an ordinary devotee can offer food to the Lord.
The Krishna consciousness movement is trying to establish this right system of human civilization, which is known as Krishna consciousness, or daiva-varnasrama—divine culture.

Prasadam means God’s mercy, and specifically refers to food that’s been offered to Krishna. Prasadam has been offered to Lord Krishna in love by one of His devotees, whereas ordinary food has not.
